Restore Overview
The Restore Wizard helps you to quickly tell Cucku which files
to restore and where you'd like to restore them. You can restore a
single file, all files or anything in between.
Start the Restore Wizard by running Cucku Backup and then
clicking the Restore Files button.
If you've suffered a catastrophic failure then download and install
the latest version of Cucku Backup. When you run Cucku Backup you can
start the Restore Wizard immediately by selecting the Restore files
from a previous backup option.
Where possible you should restore files from your local backup. The
Restore Wizard allows you to
search your computer for backup locations. If you know where your backup
files are stored you can also add them directly. Each drive that you backed
up is stored in a separate folder, by default these folders are stored in a
Cucku Backup folder at the root of a drive - i.e. C:\Cucku Backup.
If your local backup no longer exists then you'll need to restore files
from your backup partner. Depending on the size of the restore this may take
some time - ask your partner to keep their computer switched on and connected
to the Internet while you're restoring files.
If possible, rather than restoring over the Internet, ask a backup
partner to export a copy of your backup from their computer. After exporting
the backup copy it to an external hard drive or USB memory drive. You can then
restore files from the exported backup.
Another option is to arrange to meet with your backup partner. Connect the
computer you're restoring to your partner's computer using the same network
and then continue with a remote restore. Restoring files over a local network
will be much faster than restoring over the Internet.
