Backup Locations
Backup Locations lists all of the folders that Cucku is using to store backups.
The list shows the folder, the type of backup stored in the folder, the size
of the folder and the status of the backup. The size may take a few seconds to update.
There may be up to three types of location in the list:
Local backups display the drive letter and name, if the drive has one.
Cucku creates a separate location for each drive that is backed up. Local
backups of a drive should be stored on a different drive if possible. By
default Cucku will do this automatically if more than one hard drive is available.
Remote backups display the name of the backup partner that you're storing
files for. There will be a separate location for each drive that your
partner has backed up.
If you've restored files from a partner using Cucku you will also have
restore locations. These locations cache files during restore. Once you've
completed the restore it's safe to delete these locations.
If you've installed or reinstalled Cucku Backup to restore files then there
might be locations missing from the list. Click Search to automatically find
and add locations. If you know where your backup was stored then click Add and
then browse to the folder containing the location. Repeat to add locations for
multiple drives if necessary.
If Cucku Backup detects a problem with a location it will be highlighted in
red. If the location is stored on a removable drive or network location check
to make sure that it's available. The location status updates every few seconds
so the red highlight will disappear once you've made the location available again.
If the location is present but still shows an error then select it and click Repair.
After repairing an index you should run a local backup as soon as possible.
If the status for a backup location is Access Denied then your Windows
account does not have permission to access the location. This can happen when upgrading
from Windows XP to Windows Vista or Windows 7, or if you backup with full Administrator rights and then
run Cucku with limited rights. To fix this problem you need to modify the permissions
for the folder containing the backup location (and all subfolders and files) so that your
account can access the folder. See further instructions from Microsoft for
Windows XP and
Windows Vista.
If you aren't sure how to fix this problem please open a support ticket
and we'll help you.
To move an index select it in the list and click Move. Browse to, or create an
empty folder for the location and confirm that you want to move the index. Moving
an index can take some time to complete and cannot be interrupted.
To delete an index select it in the list and click Delete. Deleting an
index can take some time to complete and cannot be interrupted or reversed.
