What happens when you restore to a new PC?

Many of your files live in folders that can change when you move to a new PC. These folders depend on both your username and the operating system. This probably isn't something you usually think about, but it can be painful when you need to move your files.

The window below shows what happens in Cucku Backup when you restore files backed up from a computer running Windows XP to one running Vista.

Common Folders Have Moved (Screenshot)

Cucku has detected that the username has changed (from Rob to Admin) and also that Vista stores user files under C:\Users\... rather than C:\Documents and Settings\....

Click Yes and the files will be restored to the new location. Files that were on the Desktop on the old computer will still be on the Desktop on the new one, even though they're in completely different locations.

Hopefully most people will never see this screen. It's just one of the features that makes it easy to recover files with Cucku Backup.
